Even in their otherworld forms, members of the Helldiver kith still in their durance have a silver thread attached to their person leading back to their Keepers.

However, this does not free them from their Keepers. Helldivers are unusual among changelings in that they are not only expected to leave Arcadia, they are encouraged to do so. When they feel like engaging in espionage, the Others create Helldivers. Sometimes they need a spy or a thief in their byzantine intrigues, someone who would go unnoticed and unaffected. Occasionally, the True Fae need to get places that even they can't reach. If you want your character to be able to do something, discuss with the GM and create what you both agree works. That's why I brought up the idea that the benefit of the current system is that everyone has two qualities, without the need to take two Kiths. The kickstarter materials, which have been said as being around 90% (or more) ready, do not have the merit, so if you wanted to take it you'd need to effectively balance a character having two Trickeries and two Kith Blessings yourself. They also need to eat and sleep like normal, Diving or not.ĭual Kith is so prominent here because most of the characters here were from before the Kickstarter materials were revealed, and not everyone has access to them.

And no, Diving does not make them any safer than other beings who can do similar tricks by going into Twilight they see, are seen and interact with other beings that are ephemeral, and if the realm has effectively no Twilight (such as the Underworld), then they are material as well. Once the chain is broken though, they are as free as any Changeling.

If duel kithing has disappeared from the core rulebook, why do so many character concepts take the duel kith merit still.do you gain two blessing/trickeries?Īnywho, thanks for the informative response. In their durance, yes, they could be pulled back at any time. So can Helldivers enter the Shadow or Twilight/ the Underworld? Does being invisible and intangible mean nothing from these realms can harm them? With this chain attached to them do they run the risk of their keeper dragging them back at any time? The game is a lot more friendly for custom content, and given how Kiths have two powers to them, a player can now make a custom Kith that has what they want much easier than if they were using two pre-made Kiths. This change in Kiths has likely been why Dual Kith has kind of vanished from the core book as of now. The second part is Trickery, which is (usually) an ability that is activated by spending a Glamour and rolling a particular die pool Trickery has a unique name unto itself, but is officially known as, well, Trickery. Helldiver chain is, itself, an example token.Īlso, since you're not quite up to date on what Kiths are like now, Kiths now grant two powers one is the Kith Blessing, which grants an exceptional success on 3 successes for a particular skill in a particular circumstance (Artists get it when using a Crafts specialty Helldivers get it by using Larceny in the Hedge), and if you make your own Kith then the circumstance should be more specific depending on how often a die pool gets used (Brawl or Firearms, for example, are skills that tend to be used a lot when they come up). Also, unless they find a way of breaking it, each Helldiver has a silver chain from their back to their Keeper that they can be pulled with. However, to stop Diving they need to spend another glamour, and unless they run into another Helldiver or a Changeling using a specific contract they can't interact with anyone while Diving.

Not to derail the thread too much but I do have a character idea and was curious if you knew what the new kith "helldiver" is?It's a kith from the 2e core book basically, Helldivers are Changelings who can become invisible and intangible (known as Diving) by spending a glamour, and if they observe a gate to another realm being opened they can open it with a glamour like it was a hedgegate.
